Happy New Year — ( Suba Aluth Awuruddak Wewa ) 🇱🇰🌸👨👩👦👦🥳
Sinhalese New Year, also known as Aluth Avurudda in Sri Lanka, is a Sri Lankan holiday that commemorates the Sinhalese people’s traditional New Year. It is a significant anniversary that is observed by the majority of Sri Lankans, not just the Sinhalese. The Sinhala New Year falls on the same day as the new year celebrations of several traditional calendars in South and Southeast Asia.
In Sri Lanka, both Sinhalese and Tamils celebrate this Festival together, hence we are proud to say it as Sinhalese and Hindu New Year.
According to Sinhala astrology, the New Year begins when the sun travels from Meena Rashiya (the house of Pisces) to Mesha Rashiya (the house of Aquarius) (the house of Aries). It also signals the conclusion of the harvest season and the beginning of spring.
The new year event is usually held on the 13th or 14th of April and typically begins with the sighting of the new moon.
Nowadays, Sri Lanka is in a complicated and difficult situation, and we wish all the best and happiness to our beloved country and its people.
Ifonix always has faith in people. Happiness and good health are our most valuable assets. We wish you a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year.
